Photo Blogging Challenge (January 2020): New

January 31, 2020

So, remember when it was 2019?

Not any more!

And just like that, we are at the end of January 2020. What in the hell is all I can say. But the month started with me being sick and ends with me pushing myself with walking and everything else, so I can’t complain!

What’s even cooler is that we are in 2020. It’s a cool year and hopefully it will be awesome — for you personally, professionally, and blogging! I think we should all come together and see if we can’t actually grow the challenge this year. I’d love to see many more taking part by the end of the year than what we start with!

When this challenge first started in 2013, we had a bunch of people. Unfortunately, many of them no longer blog. That being said, there are still plenty of bloggers out there and this challenge is so open that people can do it however they want! Interpret the theme in whatever way they see fit, and also use any type of camera. This month, I used my new iPhone 11 for all of my images. The camera is awesome!

So let’s see where 2020 can go. If we can all find a way to get a few new people participating, think about what kind of challenge this can be every month!

So let’s get to the challenge! Five photos for new!

Here are my five!

1. New focus

Over the years, I’ve tried many planners. I always fail. But I wanted to do something different. I didn’t exactly need a planner fully, more of something where I can journal more. I want to keep track of a lot of different things and I’ve been working on this bullet journal. I start it officially in February, so here’s hoping it works out for me!

2. New game

So many of you may know I am into board games, especially ones I can play solo. This is a newer one I got and while I was sick, I learned and played the game a few times. Lots of fun!

3. New snow

It seems we’ve been in a cycle this winter. Snow comes, then it disappears. And then more snow comes. Here’s some new snow one afternoon.

4. New medicine

This seems to have been a good addition to me and is really helping. It’s made me feel good moving forward with the diabetes battle.

5. New … drink

This Irish cream was a Christmas gift from my brother. The new Hydro Flash “drink cup” was one I picked up. This Irish cream is outstanding and I dare say better than Bailey’s!

And there are my five for the month!

If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below.

And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!).

Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too! NOTE: We have a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

Make sure, too, to come back tomorrow to see February’s theme!

Congratulations on your new iPhone – very cool!
I hope you will blog about your bullet journaling experience. I watched a video about it and didn’t get the point, pun intended.
    Happy Friday!

I do plan on posting about the bullet journal setup at some point. I want to get a bit under me as I move forward. Thing is, there’s a lot of room for doing different things with it. I think I am probably doing it a bit more “non-traditional” to the bullet journal method, but I have my reasons for that journal and I like the style of the bullet idea.

I love new. I’m with Paul. New books, books and books! But I’m also a fan of old, antique and nostalgia. So far so good this year. Now I’m curious about that game. I’ll have to look for it.

I didn’t think I would be able to get anything going for this month, but surprisingly, I was able to get five photos. Nice interpretation of the theme.

There are times when I post a theme and I was like… what was I thinking? But in the end, thinking outside the box often helps!

It seems like everyone got sick in January. I’m glad you’re feeling better now. Congrats on the new iPhone. Your pictures look great. I got a new planner too. Enjoy yours! We haven’t had that much snow, but there was some on the weekend. That Irish Cream looks good. Cheers!

Yeah, being sick was no fun. But thankfully I’ve been able to avoid it for the most part. Though when it hit, it hit hard!

You’re the second person who’s said the photos from their new iPhone 11 are amazing. I’m still using a Samsung S5 that’s almost 6 years old and have been taking fewer and fewer photos with it because I’m noticing they’re not so great. Maybe 2020 will be the year I get a new phone. I love getting a new planner at the start of each year, although mine is more traditional than a bullet journal. Just read your latest diabetes blog post and it seems like that new medication is doing its job. 🙂 As for the Irish cream, I do like a splash in my hot cocoa, so will look for the Five Farms label when our current bottle of Bailey’s runs low. Great job overall. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for “money” in February.

The photos on the iPhone 11 are crazy good. I’m to the point now where I just don’t have it in me to carry my normal gear all the time. While I will still use it for certain things, when I travel and all … I’d rather have something lighter and easier. And the quality of this is just insane. I will admit I’m a bit of a “need the new” sort of guy, so I tend to upgrade my phone every two years, but I’ve noticed an insane improvement from the iPhones since I first got in on them. I’m still learning the journaling a big more, and yes, the medications seem to be really working. On the final note … yes, the Five Farms is well worth looking into!

Self care is important. With work as stressful as Self care is important. With work as stressful as it usually is during this month, the little things can help you relax. I went this morning for a beard trim. It’s only 30-40 minutes, but it’s nice to have it done. A nice shaping, thinning it out a bit, a hot towel and a straight razor.

Nice.

In the world in which we live, little things like this can really be good for you. Maybe it’s a massage. Maybe it’s a therapy session. Maybe it’s a trip to the barber shop. But take care of yourself. It’s important.

And if you are in my area and need a trim or whatever — check out Chris (@studio11chris ) at @studio11barbersuite in Oneonta. Well worth it!

I hate being in front of the camera, but also realize sometimes it's not the worst thing in the world. So, I'm getting better with it. Week 4's theme was all about us and having us in front of the camera, so I tried to come up with a creative way to do it.
