Ahh February, where have you gone?
The month of reds and pinks and love is coming to an end. And what a month it was, at least around here. Snow and cold gave way so some of the warmest days in history for February in my area. One day was 73 degrees, which left to the low 30s a couple of days later.
Whaaaaat?
Still, I did take some photos this month. And the way I interpreted this theme was talking about certain things I love. I am sure many people may have done the same idea, but this is how I went with it.
The photos I’ve chosen are ones I truly loved from the month. I hope you enjoy as well. Remember to come back tomorrow for March’s theme!
With all that out of the way, let’s get to my five for the month!
1. This little guy!
Well those of you who are part of this challenge know that Cameron (my nephew/godson) is usually part of my monthly challenge. This was on a warm winter day while snow was still around. I had no problem letting him fire a few snowballs at me for photo purposes!
2. Expressions
One thing I love about photography is catching great expressions, especially ones by Cameron.
3. Creativity
Over the holidays, I bought a new lens. I was worried I wouldn’t use it enough to justify the cost, but I have used it quite a bit, challenging myself to use it in situations I normally wouldn’t. I used it at a hockey tournament recently a bit, including when the Zamboni was doing its job.
4. Artistic
I’m not an artist by any stretch, but I did a “Paint and Sip” night, as it was a fundraiser. I went with my brother and had a pretty solid time. This is my artwork.
5. Action photography
I have always been a sports photography person. Pretty much, any action. I love capturing it and seeing what I can get. Some sports are way faster than others, like hockey. I don’t get to shoot it often, but am glad I had the chance this past weekend.

Paint and Sip right along side a hockey photo….you’re a real Renaissance Man! 🙂 I like your take on the theme this month. I have a few snowball in action shots from Peanut and they always make me smile….right after I clean off my camera lens. Hope your March is off to a good start.
Ha! If that’s how you want to describe me, I’ll take it! Now I need to be chivalrous and find myself a fair maiden on this life trip! 😉 Anyway.. thanks for the comments! The snowball shots are fun, but Cameron has an arm and got me a few times!

I started oil painting classes after taking a few of the “paint night” acrylic classes… it really opened a new world for me!
The snowball and face pictures are WONDERFUL. He really does have a great expression. Oh and the zamboni… that lens is awesome and you really have figured out how to use it creatively!

These painting events are a lot of fun. I talked to the lady who runs it and I was talking to her about doing a “guy” one and there’s something like “Paint and Pints” or something. We got looking at some sports-themed ones, so it might happen! As for Cameron, he definitely has some expressions. This lens, too, has been a blast!
I’m absolutely TERRIFIED to go to one of those “Paint & Sip” parties. My drawings never got past the stick figure phase. I almost failed Art in Elementary School because of it. Seriously.
I’m only just getting into hockey myself (mostly because of the discounted coffee at DD if the Rangers win) and I love your pics of the game and zamboni!

You definitely shouldn’t be terrified! The paintings are simple and they lead you through it. It’s a lot of fun. I’m not an artist by any means, but I’ve been to two of them and have had a great time each time. It’s well worth it. Go with some friends, and have some laughs!
Love me some hockey and Zamboni! And I have to because my little guy got accepted to the youth team meaning I’m being promoted to hockey supermom ;-)))
Hockey is a lot of fun and it’s fun to capture, though not easy because of the speed and where they tend to skate. Still, I’ve enjoyed it, that’s for sure!
Your love for Cameron and sports come through in your choice of images for this month. That young fellow looks absolutely fierce in the second photo – intimidating! I really like how you used your fish eye lens this month, especially for the Zamboni shot. Way to go in suggesting “Paint and Pints” for guys night out. You deserve a discount if the proprietor goes ahead with your idea!
Cameron is a really easy photo subject, when the timing is right. Sometimes he needs a little bribery, but it’s all good. The fish eye lens has been pretty awesome and has allowed me to challenge myself in many different ways. I’m kind of amazed how much I’ve used it!
