Christmas joy and memories

As I’ve gotten older, I tend to have a lot more fun with giving and watching the youngest family member (Cameron) as he learns more about Christmas.

He really got it this year.

Santa. Opening things. The joy on his face is awesome. His interest in things is quite joyous.

It’s sometimes hard for me to post some of the Snapshot Saturday posts, especially those from Christmases and other holidays long past. I think of those no longer with us, especially my father, and how much enjoyment was had. I look at the looks on faces of those such as my brothers and it gets a little emotional.

I think that’s all part of getting older.

When I look at the photos from this Christmas, or even the past few with Cameron, I can’t help but to have those same emotions. To see the joy on the faces of everybody as we watch or take part is great.

Christmas is about many things to people, but the memories should always be something you always keep with you.

I wanted to share a few images of Cameron for today’s post (this despite the photo blogging challenge theme for the month!)

Enjoy the season

A quick post this evening.

Life has some simple pleasures. One of them? Sitting after dark in a room with just Christmas lights on. It’s soothing and relaxing.

The colors of the lights just sitting there and lighting the room gives it a nice ambiance.

Even knowing it’s cold outside, it’s nice inside.

There’s snow outside, but not inside.

Instead, it’s a glow of the season. A reminder of how nice and joyous this season can and should be.

Make sure you remember this season, no matter your beliefs, should be one of peace and happiness. Spend it with friends and family and smile as much as you can.

Photo Blogging Challenge (December 2013): Festive

Did you feel festive in December?

I sure hope so if you were taking part in the photo challenge! I honestly didn’t take many photos with my regular camera this much, even though I had planned on doing so. Such is the life when trying to adjust to many new things. But I snapped many a shot with the phone, so my post will have a bit of an Instagram theme.

What’s really too bad, though, is some of the best festive images I took were work-related, and I don’t really feel comfortable posting them here. It’s too bad as there are some that I really loved.

I actually enjoyed this month for the first time in the past couple of years. Though I didn’t dislike it in the past, it didn’t feel the same. This time, it did. So many things happened this month and I’ve had the chance to really get into things a little differently.

What I truly love about this month is there’s so much to be festive with. Hopefully there will be some different takes on the them. I pretty much went with the traditional way of looking at things as I was finally in that frame of mind once again.

So, without wasting any more time, here are my five images for the month.

1. Gifts

This image isn’t just about gifts, but rather a small buildup of ones for my brother’s new son, who was born a few days before Christmas. This is a few of those boxes. Having the new guy around for Christmas really made it a festive time.

2. Elf with a beer 

The Elf on the Shelf thing is pretty hot, it seems. Anyway, at my one brother and sister-in-law’s house, it seems to be a game. On Christmas Eve, I came across it in the fridge. He looked thirsty… so…

3. Caching Christmas

Our area has an annual geocaching event/ornament exchange. It’s one of my favorite events of the year and this year, as usual, was pretty solid all around. This is the tree/ornaments at the event.

4. Christmas light 

I love the looks of lights during the Christmas season. It really puts me in the festive mood.

5. Caramels

My mother’s homemade caramels are definitely part of the season and always make you feel festive!
