Photo Blogging Challenge (July 2017): Point of View

July 31, 2017

Point of view.

Goodness did I have some serious ideas with this theme this month. However, all great plans don’t come to fruition. Then I look at the photos I took this month and I’m thinking … OK, it’s time to figure things out, which means I can now start to interpret this theme a little bit.

OK, maybe a lot.

So the five photos below are a different way of looking at things. The point of view can be looked at differently. And, well, I’m going to take liberties with that. But at this point, I’m blabbing.

My five are below. And as I mentioned last month, please try and visit and comment on each person’s posts. I know sometimes we get to them late — and that’s fine. But it’s disheartening to visit people’s blogs (I’m usually quite late!) and see only a few of the participants visiting others. Remember, we are a community. Support one another.

All that being said, it’s time to see what this month has brought us. Here is my five for the month:

1. Upper corner

Obviously, I’m a baseball nut. And I do a lot of photos of stadiums and game action. But this is a point of view a lot of people don’t go check out. If you go to baseball games, go find one of the upper corner spots in the stadium and check it out. It’s a really cool point of view.

2. Colors

Typically, the colors are pretty straight forward when it comes to flowers. Alas, this batch was different. It seems the point of view of these would make you think a little differently and be a bit more happy. A stretch for the theme? Probably, but I needed to use these!

3. Happy drumming

I recently saw a band after a baseball game and thought this would be a good interpretation of this theme. In fact, I liked it so much, I used two photos! But this is the first one — the drummer — think of his point of view. He’s strumming away and feeding off the crowd. So much fun!

4. Sing it

I am not a singer. I’m also not a performer. I’m more of a guy who wonders about things. At this concert at this cool bar in Lansing, Michigan, this band was really getting the crowd into it. You ever wondered what it’s like for a singer or band when they get into a performance? That’s a point of view I think would be pretty wild.

5. First pitch

OK, this is a point of view I could have had. But my arm is rag. You ever wondered what it’s like to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at a game? A friend of mine had the chance recently at a Double A game. He threw a strike. I likely would have bounced it.

There are my five and I look forward to seeing what others had this month!

If you took part in this month’s challenge, make sure to link up below. And for those of you who participated, make sure you try and get to other people’s blogs and comment (here, too!). Let’s continue to grow this challenge and have a strong community. Come back and check out the others who link later on, too!

Also, don’t forget to get back here Wednesday, August 2 for the August theme!

NOTE: I set up a Facebook group for those who participate in the challenge and are interested. I’ll post any announcements there and hopefully it can be a place where things are discussed and some interaction etc. You can access it here.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who had to operate a lot with “different point of views” here ;-))) It’s been though. Love your rainbow roses, very happy, indeed!

I think your “point of views”are perfect for this month’s theme. The flowers are awesome and I’s love for them to jump into my shopping cart. The fisheye point of view of the stadium is soooo cool! I’m not a performer and often wonder what the audience looks like from their point of view. Great job! See you over at peripheral perceptions. 🙂

Thanks so much! I really do love that fisheye lens for when at games. Gives things a cool perspective.

Finally taking some time to exp;ore all the different “points of view” from July. One of the things I really like about your post this month is how your words so clearly articulate your relationship to what’s going on in the photo and how you encouraged others to think about that perspective, too. That whole throwing the first pitch thing? It would be a nightmare for me! But performing as a musician? Not so much. Anyhow, I have to ask – were the flowers silk or real?Because if they’re real, I cannot even begin to guess how they get each petal to be a different colour.

Self care is important. With work as stressful as Self care is important. With work as stressful as it usually is during this month, the little things can help you relax. I went this morning for a beard trim. It’s only 30-40 minutes, but it’s nice to have it done. A nice shaping, thinning it out a bit, a hot towel and a straight razor.

Nice.

In the world in which we live, little things like this can really be good for you. Maybe it’s a massage. Maybe it’s a therapy session. Maybe it’s a trip to the barber shop. But take care of yourself. It’s important.

And if you are in my area and need a trim or whatever — check out Chris (@studio11chris ) at @studio11barbersuite in Oneonta. Well worth it!

A video looking at my first year and a half of owning a golden retriever, my first dog. It's had its ups and downs, but I've truly loved the ride and look forward to the future.

I hate being in front of the camera, but also realize sometimes it's not the worst thing in the world. So, I'm getting better with it. Week 4's theme was all about us and having us in front of the camera, so I tried to come up with a creative way to do it.
